District Centre · Menziken
At the centre of Menziken — where the village meets the valley — a precise mixed-use district centre takes shape. The volume picks up the scale of the surrounding fabric without disappearing into it: a quiet building that re-frames the public space.
At ground level, the building opens to the square and becomes a thread for encounter, supply and lingering. Above sit dwellings of varying sizes; the plinth holds small-scale commercial space.
Materially, the house holds back. A pigmented render façade, generously sized windows, carefully placed repetitions — a built matter-of-factness.
By creating built space, we shape places, neighbourhoods and the everyday lives of those who use them.MANTEL · Profile
